Film Hackathon East is an exciting and unique project which has developed a new approach in finding solutions to offering young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with a career opportunity in film. This is done through a 6 month training programme followed by actually shadowing and learning ‘on the job’ on a feature film for up to 30 days - an opportunity usually not available for unless a full film course is not taken and even then it is difficult to get access. especially(young) people from disadvantaged backgrounds. By working with professionals and earning a‘production credit’ which is also listed on the IMDB (International Movie Data Base) - dramatically increasing chances of employability in the film and media industry, making it a game changer since traditionally individuals will not ‘qualify’ for the educational institution or have contacts in the industry to give them a break.
